I’m hoping that Disgaea 6 will serve as a learning experience for Nippon Ichi Software that drastic changes, while they can certainly shake up the playing field, can also be a double-edged sword that can harm initial opinions of their flagship series. The game does indeed have a few mechanical elements that take older ideas and apply them more directly towards your characters (D-Merits for example) and quicker, more efficient ways to make your characters stronger (Juice Bar and Super Reincarnation), but it suffers from performance slowdown, removed classes and features, and a cookie-cutter storyline that we’ve already seen from Disgaea 5.

I was able to leave the Switch on overnight and get to level 9999 in less than 40 hours, and the Switch didn't even heat up! I absolutely love D5, and D6 is nearly as good. The autobattle feature is a welcome addition.
The gameplay is nearly identical to D5, but with even more new stuff to customize. The music is good, especially the hub world song, I absolutely love it, and the voice acting is mostly well done, though all the dlc characters have very unfitting voices for their characters. Instead of judging a game based on presentation, you should take into account how fun the game is too. The game ran just fine in graphics mode, and the 3D visuals are probably due to a lower budget than previous games. Sure, it's a step down from D5, but they're serviceable.
